State data shows New York's Prisons are more dangerous than ever before after a record-breaking number of assaults in 2022. The rate of violent assaults significantly increased after the HALT Act was enacted in April 2022 and has remained at that increased rate ever since. State data shows that New York is on another record setting pace in 2023.
