Useless, frivolous, gimmicky refresh animation in Google Chrome (iOS).
This kind of nonsense just sums up how Google don’t understand UI & UX, nor how humans work, nor how they interact with objects.
These are the UI elements in Chrome for iOS, which appear when you scroll to the very top of a page and pull down to refresh, but haven’t yet let go to allow it to refresh. Why is this highlight (the grey circle) animating as a stretched area that can’t make up its mind what it’s doing? Either have it on one element or the other, NOT this stupid “which way are you going - thiiiiiiiis way?” as it stretches left and right, undecidedly morphing from a circle into an ellipse-ish sideways egg shape.
This is STUPID. People need clarity, not some UI dork at Google making the interface ✌️”fun and quirky”✌️
Your pet project as a software person, may be your favourite toy, but don’t infantilise user interfaces that VAST numbers of people use, with your useless animated expressions of “LOOK! LOOK! IT’S STRETCHING! AREN’T WE CLEVER AND QUIRKY!”
If you want to design fun things for children, go and work at Fisher Price; otherwise get a job at Apple where they actually KNOW what they’re doing.
