💥 How to Host Your Own Rust Server?
You can host a Rust server by either using a dedicated hosting provider for a guided experience or by setting one up manually on your own computer using SteamCMD. A hosting provider automates the process, while the manual method requires more technical steps.
1️⃣ Using a Hosting Provider (Easiest)
Sign up with a game server hosting company like Hostinger
Select a Rust hosting plan (need at least 8GB RAM)
Log into the control panel and choose Rust from available applications
Customize server name, map, PVE toggle, and other options
Launch from the control panel
2️⃣ Hosting Manually (Free)
Download and extract SteamCMD to a folder (e.g., C:\steamcmd)
Run steamcmd.exe, log in anonymously, use force_install_dir C:\rust_server then app_update 258550
Create start_server.bat in server folder with startup commands
Open port 28015 in router and allow RustDedicated.exe through firewall
3️⃣ Adding Yourself as Admin:
Go to server console, insert ownerid command with your Steam ID and nickname in quotes, save with writecfg.
Connect: Press F1 in Rust, type client.connect followed by your server IP.
