Singing is relatively easy. However, one of the areas of singing that pose a great challenge to many singers is the area of tonal control; basically knowing how to control your notes while singing, so that it sounds deliberate and sure. Today, I share with you three vocal exercises that will help you control your singing better, and deliver your notes with better conviction, while helping you discover how to control your voice generally.
The singing exercises address the need for singers to be well able to distinguish between vibrato and simple straight notes. The goal is to be able to deliberately choose what vocal technique you want to apply, and execute it without sounding like you weren't sure of what to do. As beautiful as singing techniques like vibrato, crescendo, and staccato can be, their use should come with control. Today's exercises, if practiced regularly, will certainly help.
You will learn about the role that consistent flow of breath from the lungs plays in singing both straight notes and vibrato. You will also learn the trick behind achieving a full crescendo. Mastering the switch between soft singing and loud singing within the same note, is a singing technique all singers should aim for.
