One of the main attractions to see in the Ribeira Sacra is the Sil Canyon, whose viewpoints offer unique views of its rugged shape. However, there is another method that, although not as scenic, allows you to come into direct contact with the river: the catamarans of the Ribeira Sacra (for me, one of the most spectacular places to visit in Galicia). In this article, we'll look at all the catamaran excursion options in the Sil canyons and the location of the Santo Estevo pier, among others.
Tips for Catamaran Sailing in the Sil Canyon
When taking a catamaran tour through the Sil River canyons, there are a few things to keep in mind, especially depending on the season:
Sometimes, even if the forecast is sunny in the area (even in summer), fog accumulates in the canyon during the morning. This fog usually lifts around mid-morning, when the sun begins to warm up, but sometimes it can be 11 a.m. and there are still patches of fog.
It can be cold inside the boat, so it's advisable to wear warm clothing. On catamarans in the Ribeira Sacra, according to the companies themselves, the temperature can drop by up to 10 degrees.
Depending on the departure point, the duration of the trip is longer. In general, the catamarans located further east in the Ribeira Sacra, Abeleda, and Ponte do Sil, usually take about two hours to complete the trip, while those further west complete the trip in one hour.
