HURRICANE MILTON CLEARED THE WAY FOR TAMPA FLORIDA AURORA 2024
You NEVER get to see Aurora in Central Florida, and if you could
the light pollution would be to bad to see it.
Enter Hurricane Milton.
Hurricane Milton hit the west coast of Florida late on 10/9/2024.
The next night on 10/10/2024 there was a historically bright aurora and much of the Tampa Bay area was without power.
I have always wanted to shoot the aurora and this was my chance.
It was cloudy, and I almost gave up. I set up a Gopro Hero8 regardless, figuring I would get a cloud timelapse with maybe a peak at the aurora.
30 second exposures, shooting continuous.
The nightlapse ran from 10pmish to 1amish.
I woke up around 3amm stepped out checked the clip and realized I had gotten the aurora. I reset the camera and went back to bed. It ran again till daybreak.
Pretty cool, Milton you were a jerk but you showed me the aurora from my garden.
