Federal HST 9mm vs .45 acp
I have a multitude of self defense ammunition including Speer gold dot, Hornandy critical duty/critical defense, Winchester Silvertips, Liberty civil defense and so on, but these are at the very top of my list. They have excellent blind barrier penetration, velocity, consistency and reliability. They did excellent in the FBI protocol tests for expansion, weight retention and penetration. The test guns both have 4 inch barrels. The 1st is a glock 19 gen 5 chambered in 9mm and the 2nd is a glock 30s chambered in .45 acp. The distance fired was from approximately 10 feet. I'm not sure of the rated velocity of the 45 acp, but the 9mm in 124 grain has a velocity of 1200 fps. Both calibers consistently enter into the 3rd water jug, causing damage to the opposite side. The .45 acp weighed 230.40 grains after firing and the 9mm weighed 123.28 grains.
