Sorcerer was one of the weakest class last patch, especially sustain wise and AoE wise, now they can compete a bit more at least on Single Target. The Atronach ultimate and the reverse execute passive is very strong in short boss fights. The gain of Frag for the stamina sorc and Bound armements for the mag one is really big, allowing the class to acces a really strong sustain while gaining damage.
The fact the class has acces to Major Berserk passively in raid is also helping to make it a very strong option.
The fact that sorc passives are boosting Whirling Blade is also a very strong argument for the sorc, he is way more competitive than before on trash.
You are actually facing a slot problem, you still have some very good spells to fit in but you just don't have room for them, especially Hurricane or Deadly Cloak, two pets being just too strong to not be used. However you can remplace Carve by Hurricane in fast fights.
Overall sorc is way stronger than before now, it's clearly not the strongest class due to his lack of cleave, but it gained so much good tools increasing his sustain and overall dmg, the class is now BiS in vAS and can be very competitive in short / Single target fights.
It has also a lot of utilities with Streak, it can for exemple open door early in AS, gaining more trial overall time than any other class could give.

I used overload to gain a bit of burst at the engage, then dropped atro when I was at 200~ ulti.
Stam sorc rotation is a bit weird, your frag has to be prio over prey and Pet but you need to cast Armements first. I tried doing LA + Armement at 3 stack, but I felt like it was less dmg than using it on the 4th stack because it was slowing me down.
Priority would be : Carve stacks ➢ Bound Armements ➢ Stampede ➢ Trap ➢ Frag proc ➢ Prey ➢ Scamp ➢ Spammable

Remplace Shrouded dagger by frag and keep the same rotation the whole parse if you don't wanna use Vateshran DW.

You want to slap as many mag dots as possible to mag skills to maximise your sustain. If packs are too fast for Orb to be worth it, put Flood instead and slot Streak, speed in trash is important, the first on the next patch is the highest dps on it.

Hurricane is better and easier to manage than carve in most of fights. As atro is giving you Major Berserk, you will favor something like Yokeda over Kinras.
You need a pen set such as Alkosh/Crimson Oath in your raid comp to be able to play several medium pieces optimaly. If you don't have one, just use Bahsei instead of Relequen, it will make gameplay more difficult tho and dmg will be lower.
You should have a Pen set this patch, there is no reason to not have one, instead of Catalyst if needed.
