Chapter 5.
Renee stood in the stopped elevator, just staring at the boy that was sitting on the floor before her. The boy to whom she agreed to answer his questions. "What am I? Crazy? I must be something like that!" She thought. The assassin backed up against the wall, then slowly slid down, not leaving the strong gaze of the cute boy. Ever since she first walked into that office, a week ago, this job had sent her on a whirl. There was something about this family, something strong and powerful, yet...different, better than anything she ever knew before. Looking into his eyes, those deep brown eyes, she realized that, though she didn't even know him, Renee would do anything for this boy.

"What would you like to know," she asked, her voice scarcely above a whisper.
The rock star spoke immediately, as if he already had a great list in his head, numbering them off. "What's your name?"

"Alexandra Renee Sicura," she replied.

"Wait, isn't that like a ... " he trailed off, looking confused.

"My family owns some ... business in Italy, you could have heard the name on a wine bottle or something, but then again, you don't drink do you?" Renee spoke freely, she never talked like this before. Children where to be seen and not heard, so her father had said. It made her feel important, like someone actually cared what she had to say.

"No, I don't drink, I'm underage." Joe explained with a smile. A smile that seemed to make her heart race and her head feel light.

Ignoring the feeling, the girl scoffed, "so?"

"Well, it's illegal."

"So," she laughed. "Why does THAT matter?"

Joe shifted his feet and balanced his chin in his hands, "I just don't want to, it's bad for you."

"Right, bad for you.. okay," she smirked at him, remembering all the times that she had drunk. She probably had drunk enough to drown him, but, he thought it wasn't good. Maybe she should stop... "stop? Ha, stop, that's funny," she thought.

"Wait, why are you asking me questions! I'm supposed to ask you them!"

"What is this? 20 questions?" She asked as she rolled her eyes and stretched out her leg, almost touching their knees together.

Joe smirked, "more like 50."

"Alright," she sighed, "continue."

Joe looked down, breaking their continues gaze. He kept like that for a moment, long enough for her to observe- no, study- the way his straightened hair fell across his eyes. Or how his muscular chest moved slowly with every breath he took. He had a button down shirt on, the top 3 buttons not buttoned, showing his tan skin. If he hadn't looked up in that very moment, she just might have pounced on him.

"What, in the world, were you doing on the roof of that church with a gun, aiming at my hotel room?"

"He just HAD to ask that one didn't he?" Renee sighed at the thought. She couldn't tell him anything, it's against the rules and the penalty is death. But something in his eyes made her WANT to tell him, to trust him. So she did. "I'm an assassin. It's my latest job to kill your brother Nick. That's what I was doing before you showed up," she spoke softly, easily, as if killing meant nothing to her. Only, it meant everything.

"You were going to ..shoot him? Right before I came up," he asked, his voice slightly shaking.

"Yes, my finger had already pulled the trigger some, in a way, you saved his life." She smiled, in a way, he saved her life too...in a way.

"Whoa.... that is.. really.. intense.. oh gosh... wow.." He muttered, to himself more than to her. He definitely overwhelmed at this fact. He looked down then quickly back up, as if just realizing something, which he did. "Waiiiit, your LATEST job? Have you KILLED before?"

Renee let out the breath she had been holding and starred at the floor, almost glaring at it. "Yes I have....many times, many times..." She closed her eyes and let a tear drop from the black lashes.

"Hey, come here." Joe commanded.

The girl looked up at him surprised, "what?"

He opened his strong arms, "come here." A little confused, she crawled over to him. Joe put his arms around her and brought her onto his lap. Kissing her temple he said, "it's okay to cry."

Is what he said true? Is it really okay to cry? Does it not show weakness, but shows emotion, that you have a heart? Renee wondered at this... She looked up at the boy holding her, comforting her. Could he teach her to show emotion? To.. love?
