I'm addicted to solder smoke..., so it came the new DSB QRP transceiver from EA3GCY.
Things went smooth on the building process and the final result was a pleasant to use QRP transceiver.
Main characteristics are a simple but very "hot" Direct Conversion Receiver based around the famous NE602, the kit is well engineered with a nice front-end pass-band filter and the hi-power version of the LM386 audio amplifier chip. I decided to
join a DDS VFO to the MFT40 transceiver kit, I choose the EA3GCY ILER-DDS, it has some nice firmware features and it is very simple to configure and operate.
The transmitter type is a Double Side Band Suppressed Carrier with around 5 Watts peak envelope power, which is able to produce nice contacts on the 40m band even with the inherent 50% lower efficiency in relation to the SSB transmitters.
The Velleman LED VU meter is mainly for aesthetics because it only measures the audio output of the receiver, but shurely causes
some glittering effect!
For the kit housing I picked up a Velleman aluminum box model G124, it is easy to drill and jigsaw.
