This is a powerful feature. You can change the GT 001 presets from your digital audio workstation through their MIDI driver. This applies to all the major daws, in this example I used Logic. This feature means that you can have the unit skip to another preset during your music creation process. Because the GT has advanced processing from COSM there are minimal audio issues when doing this as opposed to trying to do this with a native based in the box guitar processor which would result in harsh sound artifacts. The BOSS effects are generally designed to support on the fly preset switching in this way.
This is such a phenomenal feature, with exceptional implementation from BOSS, that it gave me chills thinking over the possibilities.
I made the video basically to show that it is possible! It may be a bit of trial and error trying to set it up in your particular daw but the feature exists and here's the proof. :D
To record the initial changes, I simply turned the preset change knob on the GT which sits on my desktop during the recording process and it captured those movements. This is MIDI-based automation so you edit the recordings in the MIDI entry sections of your DAW (for instance piano roll). The system automatically captured the number of the preset I was on which is also super helpful.
