Vasile Dîncu is a sociologist and university professor. Our discussion started from a common interest in how we, Romanians, relate to the future. A recent survey shows that we believe that the country will do worse, but we will do better.
We believe that, for the most part, our future is not in our hands. We have concerns in the face of which we often seem powerless. We have lost, it seems, the perception of progress.
Vasile Dîncu has held three terms as a minister and is a senator in the Romanian Parliament. As a sociologist, he has a long experience of exploring Romanian society, mentalities and institutions in society. He is the founder of the magazine Sinteza and the weekly Transilvania Reporter.
