We check out the Rivian R1S and R1T along with 3 other surprises
Electric truck builder Rivian made waves earlier this year with two big announcements. First, it revealed updated versions of its R1S SUV and R1T pickup, including a new Quad Max powertrain with 1,025 horsepower. Then, almost out of nowhere, Rivian showed us three spankin' new models: the hotly anticipated R2 SUV, along with the R3 and R3X crossovers. The R2 and R3 are smaller than the R1 and intended for greater volumes, but don't expect them to be slouches. Rivian says their flagship variants will hit 60 MPH in under 3.0 seconds and offer at least 300 miles of range on a single charge. That's not bad for a trio of compact EVs, but we won't see the R2, R3 or R3X until 2026.
