Making compost takes time. That's why you should start gathering organic material in the prior months of winter. Compost essentially must be made during the summer (when the weather is extremely hot) Why? because compost needs to cook on the inside in order to become compost.
The materials needed to make compost include grass clippings, fruit & vegetable peels, paper, card board, leaves and other organic matter you can find. Once you have all this waste, rake it into a pile directly under the sun, water it a little and let it bake for about 2 - 3 days, then give it a churn.
Churn it and put it back into the same pile again and let it bake under the sun. You want to repeat this process every 3 days or so (while its hot) until the compost pile starts to look like soil. When breaking the pile apart (*make sure to drizzle some water over it as you're churning your compost*) then pile everything back together.
Once the pile is broken down and changed into soil, you can make compost tea from it, and/or start applying it to your plants for better growth. Plants really do love soaking up compost because compost is the best plant food known for plants :) And that's how you make compost.
