NIC 2024 was a very disappointing competition for me. 2x2 aside, my big goal for this competition was to make the H2H finals, which I missed out on because of a counting 13 on the last solve (sub-10 BPA). I also failed about 5 PRs and only got one in the whole comp in the process (6x6 Single). Talking about 2x2, I +2ed a 0.74 Single in the first round (which would've been PR2), and then had this round. It feels pretty crazy that I'm only happy with 2 out of 5 solves and it was still a 1.5 avg... maybe one day I'll actually perform well on an easy scramble set and improve my PR. In the final round, I got 9th place with a 2.7 average. I just wasn't focused because the whole comp up until that time for me was terrible. I hope to be able to redeem myself next time but honestly this was just very frustrating for me...
Negatives aside, I'm glad that I was able to get over this fairly quickly and the comp in general was fairly fun. I hope the next Auckland comps are way better though! :)
