Have you ever had a sore back / leg /arm? And have you tried massaging it? Do you remember that feeling of relief after the session and how much easier it was to do things after?

Horses experience the same wish to relieve the muscle pain but they don't really have what to massage themselves with. In nature they groom each other and roll in sand, scratch against the trees and etc. And this could be enough for most wild horses. But since the horses were tamed and their environment changed, they became ridable - their muscles now have to adapt as well. Selection and wise breeding has improved the build of modern horses, however evolution takes much more time and even though we can ride horses now, we have different equestrian disciplines and a lot of knowledge on correct riding and training - horses still need some support for their muscles. The exercises we perform while riding of course help develop horse's body and mind, they keep horses fit for long time but any exercise needs relaxation afterwards. So that muscles stretch and have time to rest.

Physiotherapy is so important! For any living being. It does wonders helping people and animals recover after accidents, helping youngsters develop correctly, helping older ones keep themselves healthy for long time.
In my practice physiotherapy (mostly massages + stretches) along with change in the horse's training really gave horses new lives. I first did the whole massage session only using my hands, it was pretty tiring but since I saw the results - I continued doing it almost every day. And recently I got an opportunity to try a new equine massager called HorseRelaxe - it was such a game changer! I can still control everything just like I do massage with my hands: I can see exactly how much pressure is needed and which muscle needs more attention AND it truly became much easier for me to give massage. Now the hardest part is done by the massager and I got a promoted to "massager manager" haha XD Watching it do the thing and helping it move at the needed places.
In the video we show how to correctly use the massager in order to get the maximum effect! Hope you enjoy!

Please let me know if you ever did massage to your horse and how did it go?
