Hello everyone,
In this video I take my first steps in attempting something I've wanted to try for ages - laser etching and cutting metals. I begin with some basic experimentation and progress to something a little more challenging - a sprung chassis for a model railway locomotive.
I've still some way to go in perfecting my methods with this machine. However, I can already see how a fibre laser will change my model making design-thinking and allow me to quickly prototype complex projects with accuracy.
These fibre lasers are not inexpensive pieces of equipment, and I am very grateful to Monport for giving me the opportunity to test the 30W JPT MOPA laser.
You can see the range of Monport products here:

I will be producing more content with this machine over the coming weeks as I learn to master its capabilities.
If there's anything you'd like to see me test with the machine then do please let me know in the comments.
My best wishes,
James
