Hi guys,
Lets talk about the Ducati Monster 797.
What are the differences between the Monster 797 and Monster 821.
Lets make it easy for a common person to understand instead of giving "Numbers" which farther complicate things.
So lets give the Pros of Monster 797 over the Monster 821 first.
1. Light in weight - 193kgs wet against 205kgs
12Kgs lighter than 821.
2. slightly smaller in size - So easy to manage when parking and at
slower speeds.
Now the Cons of the Monster 797 over the Monster 821.
1. Smaller engine - 803cc vs 821cc
2. Less power - 75bhp of the Monster 797 against 79bhp minimum
to max 112bhp of the Monster 821
3. Lesser Torque - 68.9Nm vs 89.4Nm of Monster 821
4. No rider modes - Thus no selection or preset or customisation of
Power delivery, Traction control and ABS.
5. No Traction control - No retard in the ignition timing.
No skipping fuel injection on a single
cylinder, thereby intentionally creating a
misfire.
No electronically adjusting the throttle if
the rider has given too much of it at the
wrong time
6. No ABS setting - Its always on cant switch it off or have different
levels of ABS setting level 1,2 or 3 like in the
Monster 821
7. Weak exhaust note - same as the Ducati scrambler nothing
close to the Roar of the Monster 821
8. No Ride by Wire - Throttle controlled by a cable ( old technology )
9. Smaller fuel tank - Only 1 litre lesser than the Monster 821 i.e.
16.5L against 17.5L
10. No slipper clutch - Lets just say that will have to pull in the
clutch completely before dropping a gear
11. Higher seat height - 805mm non adjustable against 775mm
with a lowering seat to 810mm highest in
the Monster 821
12. Kick stand and foot peg problem - The location of both is in
between each other so
getting to the kick stand is
difficult and if you put your
foot down and you are a
short rider your leg will get
hit because of the wrong
foot peg position on the
bike.
13. No rubber grips on foot pegs - In wet conditions your feet will
slip off the foot pegs
14. No liquid cooling - No radiator so heating is a huge problem
15. Heat on the Feet !! - Only after running for 15 to 20 mins heat
waves felt on the foot and shine area
against Monster 821 even after riding
couple of hours this is not a problem
16. Rear handles missing - When parking in a tight spot the ability
to grab the back with one hand and
handle bar with another is good but this
bike does not have the grab handles
parallel to the seat at the back like the
Monster 821
17. Short Rear Brake lever paddle - It is so short that the leg slips
off the lever
I hope I have covered most of the differences between the Monster 797 and the Monster 821
