Have you ever wanted to make a collage of the best bits of several takes in your home studio? With #comping you can pick the best bits of each solo and combine them into a #composite-track that sounds as if you played it like that in the first place!
I love the way that #TracktionWaveform implements comping. It's one of the most intuitive user interfaces I've seen for this kind of work.
The backing track for this is by Enda Dempsey from the Guitarist Ireland Facebook group, from a series of short backing tracks in a variety of genres that members of the group share videos of themselves playing along with. I was curious about how well I could get the guitar to sound by plugging straight into the interface. It's not bad, but I have yet to process the sound in Waveform, trying out things like Guitarix or whatever other amp sim that I can find in Linux. That should be interesting.
