** UPDATE **
I was able to stop the connectiongate drops for 2D titles by switching to 4k YUV420 in stead of 4k RGB. RGB gives 10 bit HDR as YUV422 and YUV420 offers HDR at 10 bit but with half horizontal and half vertical, you get full vertical HDR with RGB. RGB is the best quality but YUV420 is more stable. If I find a switch that supports 4k RGB I will update here with that information.
I still get the single drop on the PSVR but I am used to working around that now, I usually boot up and wait a few minutes before entering a game. I would point out that IF the audio drops occur rebooting the game resolves that issue.
Some users are able to experience 4k HDR using this setup but a YouTube member commented that they were unable to get the 4K resolution through the switch that they purchased.
If this happens to you you may have to return the switch and potentially try another or alternative switch. Amazon do have a sensible returns policy, I ordered a few different ones until I found one that worked.
I have connected a mechanical switch to toggle between the PS4 PRO and the PSVR on a 4k HDR TV.
This will allow for HDR gaming and VR gaming as desired at the touch of a button.
I bought a few switches and different cables until I found a combination that works.
I use this switch:

I have also tested the Sewell IBIS:

Same as the Goronya this has dropouts when set to RGB but supports YUV420 with HDR.
I use two of these cables:

I used a 0.5 and 1m for the HDR, the PSVR uses the cables supplied with the PS4 and the PSVR.
Featured in the video is this switch:

This one gave interference when HDR was enabled and swapping to the other switch has worked fine.
