IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.5 - Presentation
This high-level presentation covers how Spectrum Protect Plus is focused around how best to capture and store the data necessary for backup, recovery and reuse. Key capabilities are:
•The solution needs to be simple and cost efficient –meaning that information needs to be protected at the right CAPEX and OPEX
•Agentless solutions to help to drive down OPEX by providing little to no management of the clients
•With the unprecedented growth of data these days, software need to scale to manage multiple petabytes very easily
•We need to provide very fast backups and data recovery, in some cases utilizing snapshot technology
•The solution must provide the ability to reuse data in the backup repository –in non-production environments for multiple use cases
•Clients are seeking the ability to identify ransomware within their backup environment –if we know that some attacks can lay dormant for 197 days it is important to always be on the lookout
•Tools, such as self-service and automation, are key in today’s data protection solutions as well as integration with other tools and this is why RESTful APIs are so important.
