Final Fantasy VI - 30 Years Later
On this day, the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy VI's release in North America (as Final Fantasy III for the Super Nintendo), I decided to take a look back on my favorite video game of all time.
This is one of the first games I remember discussing online when we first got the Internet in 1995, shortly after this game was released. The internet was brand new to most of us and so was the concept of online communities. Nonetheless, I found a lot of great people and places to discuss Final Fantasy and gaming more generally, although sadly some of them no longer exist, such as Dr. Gamewiz on AOL and Cafe Eblana, although thankfully some are still around like @cavesofnarshe .
So come take a trip with me down memory lane as we revisit Final Fantasy VI! Or, if you're new to FFVI, come get acquainted with one of the most influential RPGs - or, indeed, video games - of all time. With its unique cast of characters, deep story, customizable gameplay, and stunning soundtrack, this game pushed the boundaries of gaming into the realm of art.
