In this episode of "Nathan's 3D Factory", I'll be showing you how to do basic UV unwrapping in Blender. So, what is UV unwrapping? It's taking a 3D object, cutting seams into it, and placing it onto a 2D plane so that you can add textures to it. Examples of UV mapping and unwrapping include laying out an animal like a pelt, or like what I do in this episode where I make something like a cereal box and flatten it out. The beauty of doing UV mapping is that it can transfer between 3D programs, so it's a great skill to have if you're doing asset creation for movies, video games, or anything that requires textures.
