I was given a brief to go out and shoot during a week long workshop with Jack Picone and Stephen Dupont in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The brief was kept to one word ' intensity', so I explored the intensity of touch.
"touch: verb
to come so close to (an object) as to be or come into contact with it."
touch, touched, touching
I walked the streets of the city and went to the Kumari Festival in Durbar Square and also to The Burning Ghats. We did not go out as a group to photograph, more as individuals or maybe a couple. I love the fact that we were mentored individually and encouraged to explore by ourselves. I was encouraged to do my edit andover listening to Jack and Stephen's critique of my work, so that I could produce this body of work.
It has been an incredibly cathartic and moving experience for me and I have learned much from these two greats of Australian photography this week. The Reportage Workshops are going to Cuba next year.
