Tour The West: NYC’s Shimmering New Address
547 W 47th Street is unique in its design. It feels like there are two condos, one on top of the other. That’s because the bottom of the building is designed to mimic the warehouse industrial feel of the neighborhood, with a brick facade and large casement windows. Designed by the Dutch architecture firm Concrete, the brick is upcycled masonry reused on the first 7 floors. If you look closely, the brick shimmers in the light, and that’s because there is recycled glass sprinkled throughout.
And then, when you take a moment to look up into the sky, that's where something magical happens. The cloud residences are located on floors 8 through 12 and feature large, modern window walls spanning each room from edge to edge. You feel as if you are floating on top of the city. Many of these unique homes are cantilevered over each other, so each home feels unique and one of a kind. In fact, no two-bedroom residences are alike. Let’s peek into my favorite one.
