I made a beat a day for 30 days in May/June 2021. You can catch all the beats I made on:

Here's what I learned:
=== 1. Accountability is hella important ===
I knew that I had to keep myself accountable, otherwise I probably wouldn't finish the challenge. In this instance, I chose to post something publicly on my social media everyday.
For whatever challenge you choose to work on, choose a way to keep yourself accountable e.g you could ask your friends to follow up with you, or face a scary consequence if you fail to keep to your word, or sign up to a paid course so you are forced to learn or lose your money.
=== 2. Much of what you make will suck ===
But keep going anyway. I thought most my beats were average at best, but I liked some of them (even though I might've had made to make them in 10 minutes.) Interestingly, beats I did NOT like at all were the favourites of others 🤷🏾♂️
=== 3. Trust your musical instincts ===
If it sounds good to you, it sounds good to you!
Some days I just tinkered around until I found a melody or chord progression that sounded good, but didn't quite fit my knowledge of music theory. So I would abandon it for a while and try to force out something that works with my knowledge of music theory...only to revert back to what I originally created because my original sounded better.
Your instincts may fail you, but they can also be right!
