“We met like fate.”
In 1982, 25-year-old sculptor, Ha Myung-seok wandered around while sculpting Buddha statues and came upon the foot of Songnisan Mountain, where Beopjusa Temple is located. Then one day, at Wontongbojeon Hall in Beopjusa Temple, he sees the wooden Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara by fate, and is fascinated by its splendid, strong, and benevolent appearance. He then dreams of becoming a wooden sculptor and creating a masterpiece like the Wontongbojeon Hall Bodhisattva Avaolokiteshvara Statue.
