The COOR lab 2 areas of focus are: 1- improve performance and reduce the incidence of upper extremity disorders in overhead athletes, and 2- optimize treatment outcomes for patients with rotator cuff tendon–related shoulder pain. The lab identifies peripheral tendon and muscle deficits along with altered brain pathways that contribute to dysfunctions in pain processing and neuromuscular control. Currently, the COOR lab is levering its findings to develop approaches to reduce injuries and improve performance in overhead athletes. They are also designing and assessing innovative rehabilitation interventions aimed at improving recovery rates and reducing chronic pain in patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy
