Audacity
I lay my eyes on dawn’s horizon,
Of stone, of smoke, of all and none.
In awe, I am, to look up high,
As columns stretch the roofless sky.
There my darkness fall and brittle to rust,
There the walls, I built, now crumble to dust.
And honour be through mud and blood,
For grace I bear beyond the Church of God.
At world’s most end where shadows loom,
Forlorn I walk across the valley of doom.
With courage shielded by favoured faith,
That waste no time with viper’s bait.
To boldly go through source unknown,
Through empty kings and empty thrones.
Through hollow men who lost their glow,
And face the ties of soul I used to know.
