On this Earth Day, we at AS by DF are excited to unveil our special video celebrating our proud partnership with Ocean Conservancy, a globally respected non-profit championing science-backed initiatives for pristine oceans. Our goal transcends mere carbon neutrality—we’re striving to lead the fashion industry toward carbon negativity. In a landscape full of unique challenges, we make conscientious choices daily, from meticulously selecting sustainable textiles and recycled and upcycled leather to fine details like zippers and labels. Every decision is a resolute step toward a cleaner, healthier planet.
Our sustainability journey is ongoing, marked by diligent research, dialogue with suppliers, retailers, and you—our community—and a commitment to early adoption of innovative solutions. We ask two key questions: How can we craft timeless, exquisitely made pieces? And how can we do so in the most environmentally conscious way possible? Our recycled leather, crafted from lambskin scraps that would’ve been wasted, uses 90% less water than traditional tanning. Our upcycled leather breathes new life into deadstock hides. At the same time, our textiles—like FSC-certified viscose, cotton, and recycled fibers—aim for biodegradability (check the sustainable tag on our site, as this is a work in progress). Our packaging reflects this ethos: 100% recycled, FSC-certified mailer bags and poppy seed-embedded hangtags designed to return to the earth.
In our dedication to sustainability, we’ve joined forces with Ocean Conservancy, whose evidence-based leadership and growing community of ocean champions inspire us. For every piece sold from our recycled and upcycled leather collections, $10 is donated to Ocean Conservancy, with a minimum annual contribution of $25,000. Together, we’re not just creating beautiful, consciously made garments—we’re helping clean up our planet. Our ocean needs us all, and through this partnership, we’re driving impactful change while aligning with our business values.
