Are you relying on your printer software to make the final "tweaks" to your images? In this video, I explore the common pitfalls of image editing within print applications like Canon Professional Print & Layout (PPL) and Epson Print Layout (EPL).

While these tools make basic printing easy, they often include "mystery buttons"—like Contrast Reproduction or HDR Print—that offer little control and zero reproducibility. I’ll explain why I advocate for a "print-ready" workflow where all major tonal and sharpening adjustments happen before you ever open your print software. We’ll look at the specific features of the Canon Pro-1100 and discuss how to maintain consistency, especially when printing for exhibitions or sales.

What you'll learn:
Why "auto" print sharpening can ruin large-format prints.
The danger of proprietary software lock-in (DPP vs. Lightroom/Photoshop).
How to handle paper-specific adjustments for Black and White.
A real-world test on Pro-1100 ink consumption after a week of downtime.

Is the print software [Canon PPL or Epson EPL] the right place to be making image edits? Should you be using DPP [with Canon cameras]
