Invented in the 1960s, Mellotron is a device that uses magnetic tape to generate sound waves and activates the brain through the auditory nerves.
As soon as it went on sale, many rock musicians incorporated sound wave generators into their work. You can still see the sound on albums such as Beatles, King Crimson, YES and Led Zeppelin.
Interestingly, the sound waves generated from the magnetic tape were recorded on the magnetic tape again by musicians in the studio.
Furthermore, when cassette tapes began to spread among young people in the 1970s, Mellotron's magnetic tape sound was recorded again on magnetic tape through the record.
And now, great applications such as Logic Pro are recording their magnetic tape sound on digital media and re-sounding it into the audience.
The sound of the virtual mellotron isn't exactly the same as the real thing, but it's certainly a sentimental and nostalgic sound for those who lived in the '70s and those who yearn for the70's.
