I Built a PC for Just $1!
Building a gaming PC is already expensive, so this project asks a ridiculous question: can you actually build one using only $1 Parts? Instead of buying modern hardware, the goal was to hunt for the cheapest components possible and see whether a functional gaming system could come together entirely from $1 Parts. At first, it sounded impossible, because most $1 Parts are either outdated, damaged, or missing accessories.
The challenge started with finding enough $1 Parts to assemble a complete computer. Old CPUs, used RAM, abandoned office hardware, and mystery GPUs became the foundation of the build. The biggest problem with using $1 Parts is that you never really know whether they still work. Some components looked terrible, covered in dust and scratches, while others surprisingly powered on without issues.
Once all the $1 Parts were collected, the real challenge began: making everything compatible. Building a system from random $1 Parts required a lot of testing, swapping hardware, and troubleshooting. Even getting the PC to boot felt like a major victory. After installing a lightweight operating system and optimizing performance, the system slowly transformed from a pile of $1 Parts into an actual usable gaming PC.
Of course, performance wasn’t incredible. Modern AAA games were difficult to run, but lighter titles and older games worked far better than expected. That’s what made the $1 Parts experiment so interesting—proving that even the cheapest hardware can still have value.
In the end, this project shows that building a gaming PC from $1 Parts is chaotic, unpredictable, and surprisingly fun. It may not compete with expensive systems, but it proves creativity matters just as much as budget.
