For many years I have been working in various motorcycle schools in Moscow, and over the years I have accumulated a huge amount of experience and knowledge. Moreover, this knowledge is not only in training to ride a motorcycle, but also in the field of selection of motorcycles, and its repair. Various brands of motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles have passed through my hands.
Now I want to touch on the skill in riding and learning to ride a motorcycle. So! As I have said many times, I have been working as a motorcycle instructor in Moscow for many years, and I have a lot of experience teaching children of all ages, from young to old. If we talk about the age of my students, it is from four to seventy years. All ages are submissive to the love of a motorcycle)
I start a series of videos about learning to ride a motorcycle and the first in this group of videos will be a conversation about the controls - what the motorcycle starts moving, accelerates, slows down or stops completely! But the most important thing is safety! Without its observance, you should not approach a motorcycle, because our health is given to us only once!
Do not touch the hot parts of the motorcycle, if we do not want to get burned. It is necessary to wait until the motorcycle and its parts cool down enough, and only then do some work with it. I do not advise you to put your hands in moving parts or parts of the motorcycle, as when it is rolled, you can get a serious injury, even lose a limb!
Always wear protective equipment for any trip, as practice says that the most severe injuries in an accident a motorcyclist gets exactly in those trips to the "next street"! Do not neglect the protection!!!
Control:
On the right handlebar is the throttle. By rotating it towards us, we open the gas, and by moving it away from us, we close it. When driving a motorcycle, we adjust the speed exactly the position of the throttle handle, and the transmission is switched on, respectively! The position of the hand on the handle-wheel is relaxed, lying just under its weight. We open the gas to the desired amount, and if you need to slow down, first close the gas until it stops, and then start braking. When braking, the gas must be completely closed!
The front brake lever is also on the steering wheel on the right, in front of the throttle handle. The brake can not be pressed sharply, quickly - in this case, we instantly block the front wheel and fall! The initial pressure on the front brake lever (or rear brake pedal ) must be fast, but smooth. Without sharp grabs, so that there is no wheel lock. Starting to press smoothly, we also gradually increase the force on the brake lever (pedal), progressively increasing the force!
On the left handlebar handle is a rubberized handle, which we hold when driving, and the clutch lever itself. Let's remember, by analogy with cars on mechanics, why do we need this very lever ?!
1 - to start moving or start moving.
2 - to shift gears up or down, change speed
3 - for braking and stopping. After squeezing out the clutch, we stop completely.
Regarding the correct position of the fingers on the levers on the steering wheel!
I always drive in the city with two fingers ( index and middle), on the levers. Why do I need this?! I save time in case of an emergency - my fingers are already in their places, and if anything, I instantly start braking and lower gears, helping the brake system! If there are no fingers on the levers, I will spend more time on braking and may not have time to stop!
The gearshift lever is located under the left foot. The motorcycle-type transmission differs from the automobile and works up and down, on the principle of a rally sequential box. Lifting the lever up TO the STOP-the gears increase. When we push the shift lever from top to bottom until it STOPS-we lower the gear! Gearshift diagram 1-N-2-3-4-5-6, the neutral gear is one and is located between 1 and 2 gears. The first gear is at the bottom, and if you get confused in the gears, again go down all the way and resume the search, for example, neutral!
The rear brake pedal is located under the right foot. The rear brake is auxiliary, and the most important and most important brake for you is the front one! This is due to the movement of masses forward and backward during acceleration and deceleration! We use the rear brake as the main only at low speeds, when maneuvering the turn, EBITDA and others. All the rest of the time, it is the front brake that dominates!!! The rear is auxiliary - to increase the braking efficiency!
