Phenolphthalein preparation and how it works
In this video, we will see the molecular structure of phenolphthalein and some other phthalein dyes. How these dye molecules change color at different pH is explained with the help of extended conjugation. Phenols give this phthalein dye test which means that they form phthalein dyes with phthalic anhydride which produces color in slightly basic medium.
