Souls-like games like Hollow Knight, Dark Souls, and Cuphead all are known to some extent for being hard to beat games. I believe these games give people hope and help in subtle ways to encourage you to keep ongoing.
Hollow Knight unlike Dark souls doesn’t have HP bars, not even for the Boss fights but there is a mod that lets you see the boss’s HP. You can also get a Dark Souls Mod that removes HP bars and that makes the game harder.
