Not everyone has the luxury (aka the money) of shooting with RAW cameras. This inevitably leads to compressed formats, and not all compression is created equal. This is especially true for color information, which often contrasts 4:4:4 (raw) with 4:2:2 and 4:2:0, as well as 8-bit with 10-, 12-, and 16-bit.
And if you do color grading, whether in DaVinci Resolve or another program, this is where the question becomes truly relevant.
