Dante
Was so young
Just turned 19
He could push
Through the bush
Like nobody else
We once came on
Elephant Grass
So thick
That we could only
Make progress by
Laying face forward
On that grass
And moving ahead
Pushing the grass down
Moving in three feet
Increments
Few feet at a time
Dante plowed through
That grass
We were hot and sucking air
Dante continued
Until we got through
His name was Dante
