On September 5th it was our pleasure to invite a select group of supporters to attend an exclusive event to see and touch some of the original documents that played an important role in our nation’s history and the history of Western Civilization. Through a new partnership with the Remnant Trust, Ashbrook was honored to unveil an all-new interactive primary documents archive.

Among the rare documents on display at the Ashbrook Center are an original copy of the first public printing of the U.S. Constitution, one of only five known copies in the world. In addition, we feature works such as a rare copy of Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” which was instrumental in sparking the American Revolution; an original document from Benjamin Franklin; and even a Bible in Latin and Greek from the Middle Ages.

Our guests were in awe of the collection as one of the first to experience the new Ashbrook archive, which will be available throughout the year in the Center for students, teachers, and citizens.

Our partner, the Remnant Trust, seeks to provide the opportunity for individuals to hold, examine, read, and discuss their growing collection of manuscripts. They believe that “great ideas belong to everyone,” and we agree!
