Stock Market Investing Mistakes I Made as a Beginner so You Don't Have to (WITH EXAMPLES)
This video is over mistakes I made when I first started investing in the stock market. I will go over 3 things I learned as a beginner in the stock market. I will also show you specific examples of stocks I invested in and the mistake I made. When I first started investing I am glad I didn’t have more money to invest or these would have been even more expensive lessons.
My first investing mistake was listening to other people when investing in stocks. When I first stated stock market investing I watched videos from Jeremy (Financial Education). I still love his channel. He was big on GoPro so I just invested in it as well without doing any research. Now I understand everyone will be wrong in the stock market and I have to do my own research on companies. When you get stock market advice consider the source. Are they affiliated with that company? Do they have experience? I still listen to people’s advice on stocks but then I do my research and make my own decision to buy or not.
Second mistake was investing in penny stocks. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on penny stock investing. I thought I would be rich in no time luckily I didn’t have more money to spend or I would have lost a lot of money. It is possible to make money in penny stocks but it is very risky. I would much rather personally be a long term buy and hold investor.
Third mistake was investing in poor companies with a high dividend yield. My goal was to just live of the dividends (I still have the same goal). What I did was looked for companies with the highest dividend without looking at the actual business. I ended up making good money in dividends but losing money overall because the stock went down in price.
I hope this was helpful to you. If you are thinking about starting investing go for it. You will make mistakes no matter what make sure you learn from them and hopefully the mistakes aren’t to expensive.
