Perfect restoration of an old hand saw!
Hello everyone!
In this video, I restore the old hacksaw of the times of the USSR. I found this artifact in scrap metal about a year ago. In total, the restoration of this hand saw took me more than 50+ hours of work.
The saw was in poor condition, with numerous deep scratches, traces of old paint. The teeth on the saw blade were lapped, the blade itself rusted, and the fasteners tightly acidified.
The main stages of restoration:
1) Dismantling the saw.
2) Sandblasting work, for which I used a home-made sandblasting apparatus and a chamber for cleaning products with an air extract.
3) Careful putty body hacksaw. Correction of all surface defects, including scratches and long-term marks of impacts on other metal tools.
4) Primer coating in 4 layers.
5) Painting in five layers.
6) Application of varnish in five layers.
7) Turning and grinding to restore fasteners.
8) Production of a new saw blade, because I could not find the original part, significantly different from modern designs.
9) Lubrication of fasteners and saw assembly.
