Grasshopper Sparrow Courtship 5-25-24
Geauga Park District's "authorized access" hike at a closed landfill site turned out to be very "birdy" — we counted 41 different species! Since the site is now a large grassland, it supports grassland nesting birds like Bobolinks, Savannah Sparrows and the highlight of our list, Grasshopper Sparrows. What was once a huge garbage dump is now a wonderful wildlife habitat. -Naturalists Linda, John, Dottie & Denise
