CHINA — The Chinese navy celebrated its 68th anniversary this week, but got trolled instead of congratulated, thanks to a shoddily made poster.

The South China Morning Post reports that the offending image was uploaded to the Ministry of National Defense’s official Weibo account on Sunday. It shows the country’s first-ever aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, sailing through the seas with a plane perched on its deck. It’s flanked by two warships and joined by three jets overhead, as text up top declares: “Happy Birthday!”

The fact that it looked cheaply made wasn’t even the point. It really was just wrong, and nitpicking netizens wasted no time tearing it apart in the comments section.

For starters, the plane on the deck is a Russian MiG-35 fighter aircraft. The two warships beside the Liaoning are U.S. Navy amphibious assault ships. And though the jets overhead are Chinese J-10s, they are definitely not the kind that are launched off an aircraft carrier — those would be J-15s.

But hey, at least the imbeciles at the propaganda department got the Liaoning right.
