If you plan to use PiFace with Pi4J, or PiFace on the Raspberry Pi in general, you may receive a message that says "Unable to open SPI device." In this video, I'll show you how to enable the SPI drivers on your Raspberry Pi.
The files you'll need to edit are one of the following:
/etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.config
If that file does not exist on your Raspberry Pi, then be sure to try this one:
/boot/config.txt
Once you have the SPI drivers activated on Raspberry Pi, then you'll be able to continue experimenting with the PiFace add-on, or any other devices that use the Serial Peripheral Interface.
