Summiting Mount Whitney in the Late Season
Mount Whitney holds the title as the tallest mountain in the continental US. In the late season, Whitney carries risk of severe winter weather, snow and ice, and high winds, all of which our team experienced during our mid-October summit.
This video trip report documents our hike to Trail Camp Lake where we spent the night in extreme cold temperatures, and then the summit to the peak in the snow and ice-covered 99 switchbacks. I hope you enjoy watching this report as much as I enjoyed making it.
