This amazing project was produced by Purdue Engineering and Featured by Purdue Researcher: Haiyan Wang, Basil S. Turner Professor of Materials Engineering & Electrical and Computer Engineering Collaborators: University of California, Davis; Rutgers University; Colorado State University and the Naval Research Laboratory
Ceramics can also be classified into three distinct material categories:
Oxides: alumina, beryllia, ceria, zirconia.
Non-oxides: carbide, boride, nitride, silicide. Composite materials: particulate reinforced, fiber reinforced, combinations of oxides and nonoxides.
A new project will study the fundamental mechanisms of a method that uses electrical fields to enhance ceramics sintering process to manufacture components for a range of military and commercial applications.
