Geshe Thogme Sherab Rinpoche is a lama of the Tibetan Bon tradition;

— Geshe (Doctor of Philosophy) of Bon at Menri Monastery;

— Tsenyid Ponlop (Rector of Philosophy at Menri Monastery);

— Dzogchen Master (Dzogchen, or Great Perfection, is the highest form of teaching in Bon and Buddhism).

Menri Monastery is the main monastery and center of learning of the Bon tradition, which predominated in Tibet even before the arrival of Buddhism. It is dedicated to the preservation and study of ancient Tibetan heritage, educational programs, and the publication of ancient texts.

Tsenyid Ponlop Thogme Sherab studied under the personal guidance of the 33rd Patriarch of Bon (Menri Trizin Rinpoche) and earned his doctorate (geshe) in Bon philosophy at Menri Monastery, Tashi Menri Ling, in Dolanji, Himachal Pradesh, India. He possesses knowledge of Ati Yoga, the highest Dzogchen teaching in the Bon tradition. Currently, Thogme Sherab lives and works at Menri Monastery and is the monastery's principal teacher.
In March 2012, Thogme Sherab was enthroned as Tsenyid Ponlop (Rector of Philosophy at Menri Monastery). Thogme Sherab has received the blessing to transmit the Dzogchen teaching in Russia from His Holiness Trizin Rinpoche, the 33rd Patriarch of the Bon tradition, Menri.

"Why did I become a monk? Living a lay life, there simply isn't enough time to perform the amount of virtue we can perform as monks."

"Is it difficult to maintain all these many vows, all these many restrictions?" "It is difficult. However, one must have great patience with difficulties. Without this, as the Tibetans say, "bone in the heart," this steadfastness, there will be no opportunity to perform great virtue."

"If you're a monk, that means you're experiencing a lot of limitations, a lot of suffering." "Isn't that what people think?" In reality, a monk doesn't experience that kind of suffering. He's thrown it all away. Cast it aside. Are there difficulties, yes, that is, in the life of a monk? Of course there are. Is spiritual practice easy? Of course not. Difficulties—yes, indeed, there are, but they're not suffering.
What is the life of a monk? What happened today, happened. He doesn't need to make plans for the future, as is absolutely necessary in family life. So, if he dies, he goes to die joyfully, jokingly, his body is cremated, and that's it.
