How To: Assemble and Install a Prime Hanging Kit
In this video we will show you how to properly install the Prime hanging kit.
The first thing you will need to do is determine where you want to hang the Prime over your aquarium. Once you have determined this location, it is time to securely mount the hanging hardware to the selected location.
If attaching to a solid surface, you can use a standard wood screw to mount the upper mounting assembly. If attaching to a ceiling tile, drywall, or similar material, you will want to utilize the included toggle nut and hanging kit screw.
After determining the mounting location, you will want to drill a pilot hole large enough for the toggle nut to push through while the wings are folded down.
After the pilot hole is made, insert the hanging kit screw through the ceiling swivel base with the threads towards the head of the screw followed by the white ceiling base. Screw the toggle nut onto the hanging kit screw, but do not tighten fully. The next step is to fold the wings of the toggle nut down and insert it through the pilot hole. You can use a screwdriver to tighten the hardware until it becomes snug against the ceiling or hanging surface.
Next you will thread the ceiling swivel mount to the ceiling swivel base. After that, thread the grip lock to the ceiling swivel mount.
Moving onto the lower assembly, you will want to take the lower assembly mounting screw and thread it into the top section of the bracket making sure it is snug. When that is completed take the mounting cable and thread it through the lower mounting assembly.
Next, you will attach your prime to the mounting bracket. To do so, use the included Allen key and lightly loosen the black screws on the back of the mounting bracket until the ball screw inside is lose enough to rotate freely. Using the same Allen key, insert the ball screw into the back of the Prime until hand snug. You will then want to slightly tighten the black screws to provide enough friction, so the Prime is adjustable, but not locked in place. As this will be an important step to level your Prime after it is mounted over your tank, which we will cover later on in this video.
Before attaching the lower mounting assembly and Prime to the upper mounting assembly above the aquarium, make sure you have assistance to prevent any sort of accidental damage, or water damage, as those are not covered under warranty.
After the light is attached, take the mounting cable and thread it into the upper mounting assembly’s grip lock. Keep threading until you reach the desired mounting height above your aquarium. Coil the excess cable.
Next, position the power cable from the Prime to the back of the aquarium. We are now going to be leveling your Prime. To do so, pivot the prime, which is attached to the ball screw until level. Hold secure while tightening the two black screws on the back of the mount. This will secure the mounting angle of your Prime. If not satisfied, slightly loosen the screws and repeat as needed.
Your Prime is now mounted, and ready to use!
