Empowering global education with Arun Saigal

Arun Saigal SM'13, SB '13, participated in the MIT-India program during the Independent Activities Period (IAP) in January 2010. He implemented a program using MIT Scratch, an intuitive drag-and-drop tool to teach students how to code, to the students in villages and urban schools in India.
In 2013, Arun expanded his educational impact through his work with App Inventor, a platform designed to facilitate coding through mobile app development. Alongside another MIT student, who later became the co-founder of Thunkable, and their MIT advisor, Arun journeyed to Guangzhou, China, through the MISTI MIT-China program. There, they conducted workshops to equip teachers with the skills necessary to use App Inventor to teach students nationwide.
Through these experiences, he started his company, Thunkable, a mobile app development platform that allows anyone to create an app without knowing how to code.
