Many firefighters are unaware that certain models have a brief pause prior to switching from high to low sensitivity. The majority of fire service TICs split the overall temperature span into two ranges in order to balance out image clarity. In thermography, this is known as high and low gain. NFPA 1801 defines it as high and low sensivity. Low sensitivity is indicated by a green triangle within a green box that is visible in the upper left hand corner of TICs made since 2013.
